LOWER HOWARD LAKE SPORTSMAN’S ASSOCIATION DEER HUNTING, 2024
Its the 40th year
of the L.H.L.S.A.
That’s quite a run
you have to say.
How time has flown by,
and how we all have grown old.
it’s a story that’s cherished,
and must be told.
In “84” we had a 36 ft shack,
in a different location
on our 10 acre tract.
It had no electric
and was a little bit small,
but the group was fewer
and it sheltered us all.
In “92” we got a bigger RV,
it was 50 ft long
but was not free.
It cost me twelve hundred,
and it was 10 ft wide.
It has just enough room
for eight hunters inside.
We have used this shack
for 32 seasons.
We love this place
for so many reasons.
It has served us well
and we have memories galore,
and I hope this tradition
can last many years more.
Now for the story
of our 40th season
It was one of our best
and these are the reasons :
Shitbird and Jimmer
took a buck and a doe,
it wasn’t like last year,
a gosh darn shit show !
And Kato shot a deer
from the Afganastand stand.
But it soon recovered,
then got up and ran.
We searched high and low
for this poor wounded buck,
but we never did find it
what rotten luck !
The guy named Groaner
showed up late.
He arrived on Tuesday,
and this was his fate.
He was not feeling well,
and he went home too soon,
with his dog named Jute
on Thursday afternoon.
Then his truck broke down
in the town of Clearlake,
this wasn’t his year
for gosh darn sake !
Now as this poem winds down,
I have to confess.
This is the best group ever
I don’t say this in jest.
I am proud of our tradition,
and the fun we have had.
I have to thank my mentor,
my wonderful Dad.
Thank you Dad for being my friend I will love this sport until the very end.
Thanks Guys JIM
